Freehill Blades

My name is Curtis Haaland, and my wife Abby, our son Oliver, and I live in the mountains of East Tennessee. I’ve always had a passion for creating and designing, and knife making has become the perfect outlet for combining craftsmanship, creativity, and functionality.

Growing up in a family of artists, I developed an appreciation for working with my hands from an early age. My journey into knife making began in high school when my dad suggested we give it a try. Before long, we were spending hours experimenting in an old backyard shed. At 17, I forged my very first blade from mild steel using basic tools and a homemade forge — and from that moment on, I was hooked on the craft of knife making.
